Crimetown Depths is set in a gritty, sci-fi universe in the finest Blade Runner tradition. The grimy background graphics and colourful elements create a striking effect which would most likely have made the final game quite distinctive.

What remains of the game is a rolling demo with some limited interaction, such pressing the return key. This disappointingly means that we can't see the gameplay but the target genre would have been a shoot-'em-up with platform sections in between.

The story concerns a gun-for-hire who visits a client paying large sums of money for combat skills. This is shown in the rolling demo as the mercenary is contacted and then teleports through space. Following a space flight we arrive on the murderous planet Murdrum. Here the graphics evoke a suitably dystopian atmosphere with crumbling cityscapes and a peculiar-looking fellow in an extravagant palace. Technological weapons, armour and a credit card finish off the graphical preview.

At the end of the demo some text notes that the developers E-Motion Software are awaiting a contract to finish the game. The rolling demo was intended to attract publishers and in the end it served its purpose. The Q&A section reveals more details about what happened next.
